¡á Wookok Zen Center

 

1. An overview

Wookok Zen Center locates its Zen Centers at Seocho-dong, Seoul and Haeundae, Busan.

It creates spiritual culture leading an age, and aims at ideal systems of practicing Zen meditation by practice and education of Zen, research on a rational rule of meditation, developing mentality, and operating a Cyber Zen Center.


2. Purpose

It obtains perception and implements eternal freedom by five laws such as cultivating decorum and virtue based on a Buddhist canon achieving full thinking system(freedom from all worldly thoughts, full energy), purifying a fixed idea through rules of observing actual images, harmonizing with all things in the universe with acceptive mind, escaping from delusion with a great suspicion, a great ardor and a great faith, and accepting timely karma with humble mind.


3. Discipline System

Wookok Zen Center offers meditation classes with the following four stages.


*The first stage

Introduction to Zen Meditation; Penitence and Devotion (108 devotion bows); Fundamentals of Buddhist Discipline; Zen and Breathing; Wookok Zen Physical Exercises.

  

*The second stage

What is Buddhism?; What is truth?; Observing the Actual Images of the Universe; The Right Path to Nirvana; Efficacy and Merit of Zen meditation.

  

*The third stage

Process of the Discipline and its Boundary Phenomena of the Zen World; Superpower and the Six Miraculous Powers; What is Kee ?; The God, Myself and Reincarnation.

  

*The fourth stage

Acting Zen; The World after Death; The Buddhist Scriptures; The Great Masters and Their Philosophy.

   

4. Activities

Wookok Zen Centers hold a regular Buddhist service every week in Seoul and Busan. They also sponsor irregular meetings for Zen meditation, reading of the Buddhist scriptures, devotion touring to mountains and Buddhist temples. The center also publishes the writings of The Zen Master Wookok, offers meditation classes to the public, interprets the scriptures written in Chinese into Korean, and promotes various activities to advertise Zen Buddhism for the world.
